Last year, I had a few leftover "Heavenly Blue" morning glory seeds, so I
quickly planted them in a couple of pots with two cornstalks each for them
to climb and placed them on my inside window sill at home in my office. I
basically forgot all about them (didn't forget to water them, of course)
and was pleasantly surprised one morning when I looked up from my computer
and saw columns of beautiful blue flowers along my windowsill.
Sunflowers are another good bet in a sunny window. (They have dwarf
varieties now) Actually, they grow just about anywhere! Two years ago, I
was throwing handfuls of sunflower seeds outside my bedroom window (I live
on the ground floor of a low-rise apartment building in Montreal) to feed a
cute little pair of cardinals (the birds, not the clergymen) during the
spring. Then, one day late in the summer, I was drawing open the curtains
in the morning and was ecstatic to see these three huge sunflowers right
in front of my window! (And I had been told that the sunflower seeds in
birdsees mixes would never germinate - hah!)
