IGL: pruning ficus

This is probably a really basic question, but I'll ask it anyway: What
happens if you prune a Ficus benjamina? Secondly, does anyone have a good
list of which plants like to be pot bound.

I have a lot of houseplants, but I don't know the specifics about a lot of
them as I spend more time in my outdoor garden and herb garden growing
food. So far I've done pretty well and haven't killed too many of my plants
and most of them seem to thrive under my care. But I don't know the answer
to these questions.
