Don't cover the African violet seed. Like all gesneriads it needs light to
germinate. Also if you can set the pot where it is warmer than room
temperature (on top of the frig or a fluorescent light ballast as long as
it's light) the seeds will germinate faster. Cover the pot with clear
plastic or glass to keep the moisture in. If the surface of the soil dries
it's game over. They may take up to two months to germinate, depending on
how old the seed is.
