I'm in Jasper AL zone 7. All of the canes on it are almost black. I
haven't cut any of them yet so I don't know what they look like on the
inside, I've just been waiting and hoping so far. My Peppermint Twists are
full of blooms, Mr. Lincoln has several buds and my unknown climber is
about at it's peak. How much longer do you think I should wait before I
dig it up?
My husband went ahead and bought me that grandiflora (ain't he sweet?!) so
if Peace does decide to sprout I'll have to find a place for an extra rose.
Oh, what a prediciment, what ever shall I do? ;)
I'm going to go check on it in a minute. I didn't notice anything on it
yesterday when Robby and I were doing some yard cleaning, but I'll check
more closely to make sure.

Yes indeed he is sweet! (Wish my husband would do that for me! LOL )
Girl, I am no expert.. but if the canes are black... I think I would
probably go ahead and replace it. Maybe someone out there has more "Rose"
insight than me, but I would say if there is no sign of growth and the canes
are black... Dig that puppy up and put your new one in. I was so happy
though when I noticed that mine finally started to get little leaf buds...
but my canes were all green. It is finally leafing out and I noticed
yesterday it's first little rose bud! I must say that I have had the hardest
time with Peace roses. I don't know if they are just harder to get going or
what! (I just love them so much that I HAVE to keep trying with them) It is
still way behind my other roses, but heck! it didn't start for weeks ( I
really think that it was about a month) after the others did (and I planted
them all at the same time this year) so if you start way behind what would you
expect!
Well, I hope that you new rose will "Live Long and Prosper"..ha! and be a
happy camper in it's new home.
Sincerely,
Sandy in Texas
