Re: don't know anything about roses

their fragrence...that is all I know about them. Oh,

Can you tell us if the rose had a single row of petals or if there were
many petals? Did the petals seem to wrap around in a sort of cone shape
in the bud and then open gradually from outside to inside of rose while
maintaining the sort of cone shape? Did the petals seem all the same or
close to the same height as they opened and were they very thick and
close together? Did they climb or were they a tall bush?

I do not think they bloomed because of improper care but they might have
bloomed because they were in a different location and climate.

Did you have the roses on the east side of the previous house? Are
there other roses upwind of yours which may have the problem? Was it a
particularly rainy summer? How close to the house were they planted and
is there good air circulation around the plants? I have to be willing
to spray or dust for blackspot and mildew if I put roses in the borders
adjacent to the house so, since I have allergies and not much time to
work with my flowers and the time I do have must be spent weeding, I
plant them as accents in the lawn or in an outer border of the yard or
garden and that helps prevent the problem.

You will probably want clkimbers there. Go to this site on the web:
www.jacksonandperkins.com check out the climbers there and then
ask for someone there to tell you which roses are low maintainance.

There are others on the list who no doubt have other answers that may
work better for you than these.

Good luck Michelle.
