Couldn't agree more. The average minimum temperature probably affects
roses more than most perennials for temperate zones. The difference in
appearance between a Mr. Lincoln here in zone 5, and the same in
California is remarkable. Whereas there is more to consider than just the
average minimum temperature for most perennials (the RH, the soil etc...),
probably for roses the zone number just about says it all. It would be
helpful to me as a reader if participants automatically included their
zone. Thanks, Judy Sylvester,  zone 5.
