Squirrels, chipmunks, butterflies, birds, and yes even dogs are a part of
gardening to me. Our English Setters always followed us thru the gardens,
sometimes playfully but mostly curious and at times a little bored. They
did not always pick a good spot to lay or even dig but they were there
and our companions. Sometimes our plants looked a little worse for wear.
Tara loved to curl up in the English Ivy, Autumn chose the Primrose,
Callie, well she was our digger, and Misty, our mini setter ate
everything. Well we tried to keep them out at first but realized this was
a part of gardening for them and eventually us as well.
They have all passed over the Rainbow Bridge to happier gardens. I would
not trade those crushed, eaten, or duo up plants for anything. We have a
new pup now and if Madison follows in those other great Setters footsteps
so much the better after all gardens are what memories are made of.
