Carleen,
Apothecary is definitely the winner in my garden. I put in my new rose
garden without much planning I'm afraid. I was seduced by the beautiful
pictures of roses in all the gardening catalogs this spring. In fact, I
only purchased Apothecary at the last moment out of curiosity because I
read that historically, it had been used medicinally. My true gardening
passion (at least til now) has been herbs, both culinary and medicinal.
I didn't expect to like her at all since my limited rose experiences were
all with hybrid tea roses. I was totally unprepared for this heavenly
charming old rose. I think I'd like to add a few more gallicas next year.
I completely agree with your description and sentiment. A wonderful
surprise!
