If you're planning on purchasing these plants instead of getting
freebies via suckers or something, scrap 'Hansa' in favor of one
of the better cultivars. Hansa is pretty good, but it does tend to
get leggy and might look funny on a hillside.
I would go with 'Fru Dagmar Hastrup' (also known as 'Frau Dagmar
Hastrup', 'Frau Dagmar Hartopp', Frau Dagmar Hastrupp, and
variations in between :) This plant tends to be denser and
produces many more flowers. The fall color also tends to be
better than 'Hansa', and it's just as cold hardy and produces
just as many, if not more, hips.
