Feeders are thick with hummingbirds, out my window I see a
hummingbird in my Autumn Damask. Not unusual as they seem to love
that rose. It's raining thick but softly and this little guy is
actually ''bathing'' on the Damask leaves. Wow, I've never seen that
before.
Earlier they started building a nest on one of the rose branches, but
the female pulled it's beginnings apart in disaproval. A pair of
wild morning doves have been feeding on the ground just below the
bird feeder. Gold Finches, White-crowned sparrows, purple finches
and even Red Winged black birds cluster in the garden. Black-headed
Grosbeaks are due in mid-June according to last years notes. Just
wait till the strawberrys finish flowering... Husband is nearly sold
on toxic free garden... long as I don't whine about the weeds.
Have a pair of wild ducks in the lower pond below the pastures. And
last week a pair of geese perched on my roof and looking down at my
garden... hum... could they be trouble for me ?
Sincerely,
~Carleen~
