Susan,
I put down a thin horse manure compost around my roses already. I was
afraid to go too thick because it was still warm. i was going to put the
cedar mulch on top of the compost.
The main concern i had was the roses getting the cedar
apple rust from the ground up gauls.
BTW the horse manure compost has been down for 2-3 weeks and
did not seem to affect the roses adversely. Should i go ahead and
add a thick layer of the horse manure compost and then put the
cedar mulch on top? Will that be too thick?
Does composted manure fertilize the roses? Should i fertilize
with fish emulsion if i have manure compost down?
I need some help sorting out the fertilizing side of things.
