Phillip-- I'm in zone 4 and my 3 year-old TB is large, but well-behaved.
I actually peeked this year for suckers, hoping to find some to
transplant elsewhere since I'm so happy with this beauty. None yet.
Mine is about 6 feet tall now and about 4 feet wide. The canes are
starting to get very thick. I've never had any dieback at all, and she's
never gotten a bit of protection. I get rebloom here as well, without
deadheading. Another nice thing is the red canes, a nice touch in a rose
that's surrounded by white so much of the year here. :)
I think you'll be happy, though your veggies may grow to hate her
eventually. She's my favorite, hands down.
Alicia, MN
PS Those thorns are pretty wicked-- maybe they'll serve as barbed wire
around that garden. ;)
