Hi Carleen (and all)
-->About how far is Buckley from Portland, Oregon? I'm an hour North of
>Portland.
Portland is about 2 1/2 hours to the south, Seattle - 1 hour to the north,
but the best part is the Mt. is about 1/2 hour to the east!

Welllllll, ok I hope it is okay to use the list for this, but then again it
is a list about roses, and I would sure enjoy seeing what others are
growing...ok, ok here we go:
Albas:******
Blush Hip, Celestial, Chloris, Gr. Maidens Blush, Pom Pom Blanc Parfiat,
Alba Semi-Peni
Hybrid Musks:*****
Ballerina, Buff Beauty, Cornelia, Danae, Felecity, Francesca!, Lavender

Hybrid Perpetuals: Duchesse du Rohan, Andorsee de Lyon, Paul Neyron*, Reine

Pink, Magnifica (or Robusta, for the life of me I can't remember which one
it is), Maggie, Pink Grootenhurst, Red Grootenhurst, Red Jacket, Red
Ribbons*, Thersa Bugnet, what is supposed to be Topaz Jewel, but it was a
TINY TINY plant when I planted it 2 years ago, and has not bloomed), Rosa de
la Hay (same thing as Topaz Jewel) Sir Thomas Lipton, Wild Dancer!, and a
hedge of the straight species that I will be replacing, it is just not doing
what a hedge is supposed to do.....
Hybrid Teas and Floribundas: Abby de Cluny!, Angle Face!!!!!, Betty Prior,
Big Purple, Brides Dream!, Candleabra!, Crimson Glory, Double Delight,
Elina, Full Sail, Ingrid Bergman, Intrique, Leann Rimes, Liebezauber***,

Banks, Cl. new Dawn, Veilchenblau, Westerland
English: Graham Thomas and Abe Darby
and I know that I am missing some, I have quite a few sitting around in pots
waiting to be planted and to make it onto the master list, and I grow
multiples of many, esp. those those that are marked with a * (which means it
is one of my favorites) ! means it will soon be replaced, due to suppebility
to blackspot, weak plant, flower to double (just balls up here, not enough
heat or sun), various reasons. I do not spray. All roses are in various
stages of growth, from 5 years to just planted this spring.
>
>Wonderful... What time of year seems to be the best in General?
>Do you also have good luck with Rugosas?
I have been told by others that the time of year does make a difference with
differant types./species of roses, but I have no more information than that.
Like you I take my cuttings spring summer and fall. I have never done
rugosas, but I am trying Pink Grootenhurst now. The cuttings havn't rotted!
but no roots either.
>I'm told that setting it near the Mother plant may be helpful... something
>about a harmone put out by the mother plant?!... perhaps it's just
>mycorrhozie (sp?) or something???
Wow! it could be, I will try that.
>
>My alba cuttings of 'Great Maiden's Blush', 'Alba Maxima' and 'Mme.
>Plantier' are still looking good, but they are only 1 (most of them) to 3
>weeks old! Hardly worth noting yet...
Congratulations!!! And don't say hardly worth nothing. Not True
>
>What time frame do you notice you have a successful cutting?
>How soon do you re-pot or set out your cuttings?
I find if it is going to root, it will fairly quickly (in most cases) I
usually have a good show of roots that you can see thru the baggie in 4 to 6
weeks. I don't seem to have the losses others have in the potting
up/setting out routine, and I think it is because it never really gets hot
or cold here, we are the model of what is called "the mild Climate". I do
harden off over a period of a week and baby in a pot for awhile. If it is
getting too far into winter when the younguns' come out, I put them in a
knee high hoop house.
I have a Lavender Lassie getting ready to come out of the baggie, and a
Westerland in the veggy garden, ready to go... Would you care for one of
these?
Tam up by Mt. Rainier
