I have a friend who lives in a turn-of-the-century three story home that
he's painted a dark forest green. It has tan trim and embellishments are
done in a maroon. Anything that he plants looks like it has a tall yew
hedge behind it. I just love his colors!
I guess it depends on your home. I wouldn't recommend a more modern house
in these colors, but it suits this house perfectly. My sister has a brick
home trimmed in white. Her home is shaded, so she has tons of hostas and
ferns. The greens are lovely against the brick. She also plants a lot of
white and pink to brighten up the shadier spots, so her home blends in well
with the garden.
My house is a gray stucco with pale yellow trim, so I can definitely second
Carleen's suggestion!
