Hi ya Jim,
I love the whole scene with music you painted... :-)

You say this rose has a crown?! as in a Hybrid Tea? I don't know what kind
of luck you will have in propagating this one to make it's own roots. Some
I hear do just fine, others need a root stock to be grafted on as they just
don't set roots well.
IF your talking of an old rose with NO graft or root stock, then yes, I
would go for all root area you can get. I just plant these into my garden
with some good soil, like I would move a rose. Besure to keep it watered.
I don't feed them until Spring with the other roses, I don't "bag" them or
anything, just mulch them like I would other roses, but keep some growth of
some kind above ground. I don't see where something like a garden hoop with
plastic or a bottomless milk jug set over the rose would hurt, unless it's
very hot.

What's the update on this rose?
Have you taken it already?
