I know that this can happen and I know that some people have made
attempts. In some cases it may even be possible to effect the genetic
material enough to cause a permanent variegation. I edit a small newsletter
called "ABG" (Anything But Green) and we have had articles about developing
variegation by radiation treatments and I have heard of mutagenic drugs
doing this too. The herbicide 'Treflan" will cause chromsomes to duplicate
in plant cells. In the correct doasge you can get stable tetraploids
developed. Too much and it kills the plants, too little and various effects
appear.

I did not /do not intend to point the finger at anyone. Especially
Grigsby which has such god plants

This depends on the clone. Good ones show variegation from the very
first as they develop. Others appear and develop later. Since yours has not
made any before, it is hard to tell. You might ask the supplier if you
should expect to see variegation right away or not. And I'd still expect
some pups to revert to typical. That is the nature of this kind of
variegation common to Sansevieria. In the "Sansevieria Journal" Juan had
the best I've seen series of articles on types of variegation.
Best be careful and hold on to the pups and watch them.
