Agreed. The reason i had suspected chemical interference was that I had
purchased about 12 kinds of variegated sansevierias, of which perhaps two
have retained their original markings.  The occasional reversion, i have
been dealing with this forever, in pruning my Var. Ginkos for grafting
stock and in removing non-variegated pups from var. Clivias, Sansevierias
et al. Madalyn at Grigsby's was NOT a happy woman at the rate of reversion
in that variegated Mason-Congo.   We bitched to each other about it and
said things like "hhhhhmmmmmph". No honest merchant wants to send out an
unstable variegated plant. they haunt you forever.

Yes, i have seen stress-induced variegation, we get it all the time in
culm-cutting propagules of bamboo.

I have a variegated schweinfurthii with awfully faint striping, but it did
happen here, without benefit of chemicals, and it children have it too. so,
whereas it is not terribly exciting, it is stable.
