Steve,.
Thanks for the opinion on Lav. 24534. While I know that my plant is not
powelli, I'm still not sure that it's rorida. Perhaps it is still in some
sort of juvenile form, but the leaves and not distichous. In fact, they are
tending to spiral. Also, they are under 6" long, on a plant with a stem 6"
tall. I photographed it today, so when the film is developed, I'll post a
link to the photo so you and everyone else can look at it.
While reading the archive you referred me to, I noticed that you believe
Grigsby's S. kirkii 'Superclone' is actually S. forskaoliana. This doesn't
seem accurate to me, especially after I changed the tags to "forskoliana" in
the pots of all my (former) "abyssinicas" last year. These plants are
totally different from the kirkii 'Superclone', and they look like the photo
in Vol. 4, No.1, page 4 of The Sansevieria Journal.
The juvenile leaves of the kirkii 'Superclone' look like normal kirkii leaves
in my opinion. As the plant matures, it starts producing tall, thick,
club-like leaves, which are a lovely glaucous blue-green in color, with wavy
margins and no more than two per growth. Perhaps this plant is a natural
hybrid between kirkii and some other, more chunky species
I'll email a link to a photograph of each.
Kirk
