Not claiming any expert status or anything, but...
I use the same mix for my Sansevierias as I do for most of my other
succulents (mainly Aloes). Given that you already have experience growing
cacti & succulents, you must already have a mix that you are comfortable
with for your growing conditions. I would use the same mix for your
Sansevierias.
The mix *I* use is 50% Supersoil (a locally available standard potting mix)
and 50% pumice (in a pinch, you can always use perlite instead). I toss in
a little Osmocote (an encapsulated fertilizer that bleeds through its
coating over a period of several months), and hey presto! in go the plants.
All these ingredients should be readily available to you since you live in
Southern California... as I do.
