Well, i dont want to sunburn my new Stuttgart Canna.
Re: grandis....
OK, you sweated it out of me. i am too lazy or something to grow my grandis
in a basket or raft. i stick them in pots. they put their children out
through the drainage holes, and the children make roots onto the wood of
the benches. they form masses of plants under the benches, all in the air
with roots clinging to the somewhat rotted wood surface. I have a vague
memory that they have flowered on a short stalk, with smallish flowers
which quickly perished, and nothing like even a half-formed seed-thing
developed. Other pot-bound plants will stick pups out of drainage holes,
but only in desperation, there being no room for them in the pot. there are
some shamefully potbound plants here. however, grandis, in a nice azalea
pot, not at all crowded, will seek the holes and behave this way i have
described. if only i had a wire basket or something i would go NOW
straightway and pot one up that way. i have wondered if manolyn would not
do better in a moss basket, tho I am not sure what triggered this thought.
