Re: [SANS] Sansevieria leaf cuttings

Hi there,

I totally disagree with the findings of Joyner, Gangstad and Seale. It
seems to me that their findings, regarding this matter, are more
theoretical than practical. Theory says that the tip of the leaves, any
leaf, produces auxins (IAA, IBA, etc.) that induce rooting. I have made a
very extensive number of cuttings in the past 15 years, at times, as many
as 360 cuttings in one day, including more than 200 cuttings of S.
pinguicula and I can tell you that the bottom part of the leaf, not the
top, roots more readily than the middle and certainly much better than the
top, which is the poorest to root. I am sure any commercial grower of
Sansevieria will agree with this.
Regards,
Juan
