Use Tecnu (tm) soap, specially formulated to eliminate the oil of PI, after
exposure...and try Ivy Block (tm) before working in PI areas, to keep the
oil off your skin.

Compost scientists believe that poison ivy toxin is broken down in the
composting process, so if you make compost hot enough to kill poison ivy,
you can put it in there....I would wait at least a month if not the full
four before working with such compost.

Compost not hot enough to kill the plant might leave you with viable
cuttings---so bag it for the trash, in that case.

you're actually sposed to use *cold* water; the hot H2O opens the
pores for the oils to enter.
