Re: Cucumbers and zucchinis seasoned with a cowlick

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

This is the true essence of SQFT gardening. How many times does someone
post that 'the book says this or that" or the book "doesn't say anything
about ----".

I'd rather think Mel meant SQFT gardening to be fun, challenging and
envigorating. Not fustrating, mechanical or enervating! We weren't taught
how to be parents, we learned through trial and error, application of our
life experiences and the advice of others (my mother-in-law as a jewel!).
I've had many failures over the years in my garden, but they are quickly
forgotten, though the lesson is retained. Thinking of the sweet crunch of
our freshly harvested carrots at supper tonite, or the beautiful vase of
fresh cut wildflowers on the table, I can only say "I'm glad I'm a SQFT
gardener".

>What I am saying is that you should not be afraid to try something

>this-that-or-the-other-thing which is only told you to warn you off from
>making your own effort. Somebody's failure was THEIR failure, and the
>same results MAY NOT happen to you because your garden is not their
>garden, your soil is not their soil, your pollinators are not their
>pollinators. Let your own eyes and hands, and brawn and brain be your
>best teacher.
