Interesting thoughts...

My climates change as much as yours do. In Central Florida, we have 3
different growing seasons (we don't have a drastic frost season as other
parts of the country). As the 2nd planting season approaches and the days
get longer and hotter, it appears that I have to plant early in the morning
(the heat and humidity can give plants hell even if they are in the shade)
or in the evenings, just before the sun goes down, but I hate doing that as
it limits my planting times. I know the grape plant I just planted will
have a hard time setting as it's a drastic change (part shade in the nursery
to full heat and sun where it is now). I did try to harden it up by setting
it on the outside, uncovered patio for a few days and it loved it, so I may
not have to worry about it! :)

The pot idea is something to think about...though I would worry about
"smothering" the plant when doing that, especially if it's large or supposed
to be large. How close do you watch them? What do you do with larger
plants that can't be covered with a pot?
