Christine,
I'm new to this list, but thought I would just jump right in. If you
cold pile compost and just create a pile you probably will get some
animal interest. I don't have dogs so the racoons and other critters
who have pulled somethings out of my pile I just figure were helping me
"turn" it as I threw the stray things back on the pile, drove my husband
crazy though so our cold pile is not win a wire cage we made out of
fence wire. No animal problems now. If you do hot compost problems
there shouldn't be a problem with animals.
Hope that helps,
Gail
