Apparently, though there was quite a problem with vermiculite from
a WR Grace (evil evil evil) mine in Montana being contaminated with
asbestos, this is not generally the case, and occasional exposure to
vermiculite such as home gardeners would experience isn't a big deal.

Of course, you can also catch Legionnaire's Disease from ordinary
