Re: Help--spider mites!!


Sean asked for help in dealing with spider mites on the Jalapeno pepper
seedlings in his apartment.  Amy suggested the standard organic response:
mix soap in water and spray all aboveground parts of the plants.

This should be Sean's first step, but if it proves inadequate to the task
(spider mites are *hard* to get rid of), then the toxicant of choice is
kelthane.

Be sure not to use malathion.  My old hort teacher told me it stimulates
spiders' (include mites) reproduction.  Not exactly what you have in mind.
The target you're after is not an insect, remember, but an arachnid.
Different beastie altogether.
