Hello all,
I've been hard at work preparing the garden, and making last minute
plans...
As things turned out, I only have enough trellised squares to grow two
tomato plants in my first-time garden. I do however have a good chunk of
unclaimed squares in the "flat" part of the garden, and I was thinking of
trying to grow a couple more toms in that space. Both varieties I'm trying
(Ceylon and Cosmonaut Volkov) are indeterminant, so if I did use the
un-trellised squares, I'd have to rig up some kind of support -- I'm
leaning towards cages, mostly because that is what my
only-friend-who-gardens uses. If I did this, do you all think I should
use Mel's spacing for bush tomatoes?
Another spacing question while I have your ears: I'm growing some
Evergreen Hardy White scallions -- since they will be harvested before they
ever get to mature onion-size (or maybe they'll never get to that size?
I'm still a bit confused about the scallion thing...), can I space them
more closely than the typical onion spacing?
Thanks!
