One of the things I love about summertime is planning meals around whatever
happens to be in the garden at the time. I'm nowhere near producing all my
food from my garden, but I do love the illusion of being somewhat self
sufficient. And it is a lot of fun trying to come up with recipes based on
what I have in the backyard, rather than thinking of what I want to cook
and then buying the ingredients. I've also gotten really interested in
canning and preserving lately; there's something very satisfying about
combining the two hobbies of gardening and canning.

Anyone else read the magazine Kitchen Garden? (Excuse me, Kitchen Gardener
--they just changed the name. I liked the old name just fine). I discovered
that magazine last summer.
