Re: Organic Corn

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

THe problem I had with corn in the past is tons of aphids and not very
good pollination. I have insecticidal soap and horticultural oil for
the aphids. I'm just not real good at spraying very often. I'm lucky
if I do it once a season. I had a block of 8x4 in a raised bed and shook
the plants gently when the pollen formed, but the ears were still small
and poorly formed. Also I have a devil of a time figuring out when it's
ready. I always end up waiting too long until the corn is old. How
close to you space them? I did 1 per square.
