Mizuna and tatsoi are Asian greens; they're in the brassica family (same
family as broccoli, cabbage, mustard). I've never grown them before, but I
read an article about Asian greens in Kitchen Garden last summer, and
wanted to try them. I was planning on using the young leaves in salads, the
older leaves steamed or stir-fried. I found the mizuna seeds on the rack at
my local garden center, and ordered the tatsoi seeds from Shepherd's.

Broccoli raab (also known as broccoli di rapa), is a non-heading broccoli.
The leaves, branches, and unopened flower buds are good in salads or
steamed. It tastes kind of like broccoli, with more of a bite. When I first
grew it some years ago, I think I ordered the seeds from Shepherd's. This
year, I found the seeds at the garden center. Broccoli raab grows very
quickly, so it's a nice crop to grow in the spring when I'm impatient for
my garden to look like it's doing something!
