Kim - this is my first sqft too and I was wondering the same thing.  Well,
we'd just put mini-blinds up, and when you shorten them, you have lots of
"slats" left over.  I just put these on the dirt, right on the 1 foot marks.
They've stayed there pretty well so far, and help me "eyeball" the plot!
