RE: Garden update!!

Square Foot Gardening List - http://myweb.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

wow, sounds almost exactly like my garden status for this year.  poor cucs just don't seem to want to come around.  i did get one harvest, but nothing since then.  plants still only 1 1/2 feet tall.  two years in a row i've tried "pickling cucs" to no avail.  they just won't grow above 6 inches and haven't produced at all.  the perennial herbs are doing wonderful as well as all of my flowering plants.  tomatoes have lots and lots of fruit, but only a few red ones so far.  that's ok with us, 50% of the reason we grow our own maters is to make "fried green tomatoes".  we love those.  I'm not sure if our tomatoes will ripen in time for our lettuce, our red sail has grown to 3 feet tall.  yikes!  oh well, have had many many wonderful salads for the year.  my peppers are really starting to produce.  have many green bells peppers and anaheims that are w/i a week or two of being harvestable.  has been an overall below average gardening season for me in the seattle area.  still learning how to adapt to the local growing season.  not giving up though. i still love going out and bringing in whatever little treasures i can find.  i have lots of flowers on my zucchini plants, but no fruits yet.  (i know, wait a day...ha).  i planted the round ones this year, so i'm eager to see how it goes.

was contemplating the fall garden for this year.  i have been on crutches for a while, so we'll see if i'm garden footed in time to plant.

Friends-  I have a icq number (14484605) and I invite you to say hello if you are on icq too.

My cucumber plants are now a foot high. (sigh..) The toms are producing their first fruits now. Corn is just now starting to make it's first ears. Beans are now climbing the trellis. Peas are delicious and many.Beets are almost gone, as well as the first lettuce (Simpson Elite and red Redina). Our salads have been very nice... I am learning how to make great salads! I wait patiently for the first cucs and toms to add to the lettuce.

Zucchini is honking and putting out just the right number of zuccs each couple of days. They double in size overnight! I am pleased and happy that the garden has done so well.

How are your gardens doing?!
