Re: fennel bulb

Fennel roots can get very long and will grow through the pot (by the second
year) if the pot is plastic.  Therefore, if you plan on leaving the fennel in
the ground through the second year, I would recommend that you plant it in a
larger pot or in the garden.  While four inches across might work, six inches
across will give you a bigger bulb.
