This isn't off-topic, because I plan to place these pots in a sq ft bed for winter crops and take them inside when hard freezes threaten. My question is: does anyone have experience with making drainage holes in plastic pots???? I'd think that a masonary drill bit that can be used with concrete and clay pots would shatter the plastic. I have tons of big plastic tubs that have no drainage holes and I'd like to recycle them into moveable planters for herbs and mesclun this winter. I found the pots in a trash pile and thought they were are great find. That's where I get all my leaves, grass clippings and pine needles--going up and down the alleys on trash days!
