soil sterilization

Hello,
Sometime last year I was lamenting the fact that my square foot garden
soil had _already_ started harboring pathogens, after less than a year, and
I asked the list how to go about sterilizing it. I got a number of
suggestions, and I tried all of them, except one. This year, I planted
only tomatoes that have great disease resistance, OG50 for example. All
the plants died from what looked like fusarium or verticillium wilt. So
much for sterile soil. The one suggestion I did not try, because it seemed
so radical, was sterilization via an ammonia/water solution. Can the
person who practices this method please email me? I'd like to get the
particulars from you again. Thank you.
