I am doing some soil bed preparation and in looking thru a list of organic
fertilizers I started wondering if it was possible for a home gardener to
make one's own soybean meal to add to the garden. Actually, I'm not sure
what is meant by "soybean meal".From reading a cooking article I have on
soy
products, I thought it might mean defatted ground dry soybeans.Does anyone
know if this is correct, and if so, is there a not-too-difficult way to
defat them at home? What equipment would be needed?
The idea appeals to me since I can easily and cheaply get organically
grown soybeans, whereas this is not the case for alfalfa, cottonseed,
etc..(Hmmm, come to think of it, was is the "meal" of those 2 items? Such
a "city-slicker"!)
Thanks!
Peg
