Thanks everyone for the info on flea
beetles. Does anyone have any experience w/ leaf hoppers?
I am having severe leaf hopper problems on my
tomatoes and eggplants. They are green trianglular shaped insects that
hop. Another form (earlier or later stage I don't know) is a spiky oval
insect that clusters w/ its buddies on the stems, especially the lower ones of
the plants. These insects are really damaging.
I've tried spraying them w/ insecticidal soap
and horticultural oil but they don't seem to have much of an effect. I've
also tried crushing them with my fingers but the oval shaped ones kind of hurt
my fingers because they're spiky and they're hard to catch because they move to
the back of the stems as you're trying to catch them.
Any info would be really helpful - thanks!
(Also, if anyone has any info about saving swiss chard and leek seeds please
e:mail me.)
