I don't know about round 1, but that hog may well win round 2 if you
rely on chicken wire. To thwart the rapacious critters I had to buy 4
foot foot fencing .. split it into 2 foot lengths (couldn't find 2 foot
fencing Then I bent the fencing to a right angle and attached the upper
foot to the existing fence while the lower foot extended out onto the
ground away from the fence.
Ground hogs had dug under the fence before, but couldn't dig anymore as
the fence extending out at ground level defeated them.
I found this easier than burying wire.
