Had a great Christmas here, Ed. I am planning my new sqft beds and have
several catalogs in hand here but am going to use mostly the seeds I have on
hand. However, I am intending on getting some green hubbard squash seeds as
that is what I grew up eating. I love the hubbard squash more than any of
the rest of them. Acorn is okay but the hubbard are so nice and dry and
tasty. I have quite a problem here with too much water (standing water, poor
drainage, too much rain) on my place so I thought that raised beds would be
the best way to go. Am planning on putting in about 20 four foot wide beds
made out of cinderblocks. I know it will be rather expensive to do but they
do last quite a while and the blocks will help to hold the heat for my
plants. I get very few days of 85 degrees or over so I don't think the
blocks will over heat my beds.
What are you all planning to grow in '02?
Lisa
