$$$ from Garden/Rainwater Catching

Has anyone had any experience in selling any of their garden bounty? I
just expanded the garden from 128 square feet to 580 square feet and
want to make a little money back to cover the cost of 28 yards of really
nice dirt, trays, seeds, 1000 watt grow light, electricity, drip
irrigation etc etc.

I have the Cash from Your Square Foot Garden Book (Thanks Again Mel!!)
but was looking for additional ideas/comments.

I was thinking about taking seed catalogs to some of the restaurant
people I know and asking them what they want grown. Also, a cousin's
husband works for a big caterer and told me last summer that a purple
basil was really in demand (at least with them)

By the way... my city is in a water crisis. We have 2 resevoirs, one is
down for a rebuilding and the other is at 22%. We have 100 days left.
Way I figure, no way will I be able to use water from the city grid. I'm
looking for rainwater catchment systems if anyone has any experience
with cisterns and capturing rainwater from their roof. I have 3600+
square feet of roof to work with on 2 downspouts.

Happy Gardening
