At the risk of sounding snide, the answer is "whatever you like to eat." I
would probably put beans, tomatoes, and maybe melons across the back, and
lettuces, onions, bush beans, yellow pear tomatoes, and whatever catches my
eye in this years catalogs in the front. But seriously, put what you like
to eat. You'll probably enjoy the garden a lot more if you do.
You have a good plot -- not too deep, and reasonably long. I had a plot a
couple years ago that was 3 feet by around 20 feet, also in zone 5 south of
SLC. I put a couple of small boards through it so I could step to the back
without stepping on soil 'cause it was against my garage. I was very
prolific, especially the yellow pears which we ate like grapes (from one
plant, no less!).
