potato report

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

well... last summer I planted a half dozen potatoes that had sprouted in
my pantry. Yesterday, I dug them up... Some were the size of walnuts, but
most were the size what I'd call a medium sized potato! In all, I found
about 3 pounds of potatoes. (they were planted in the regular heavy clay
soil in my garden, with some peat mixed in to lighten it, and I only hilled
them up once, as we left on vacation, (were gone 5 weeks) and when we came
back, the frost had killed the plants. Oh, and they were yummy!! We ate
about half of them last night for supper! Now I can't wait to try again
next year, with the "barrel method" and use a sandier soil, and an earlier
start!

95-100 day growing season! (And I just got my first seed catalogs in the
mail this week!)
