The only part you need to paint is the part that will be in contact
with the soil/moisture. So just paint the inside of the bed before
you put the dirt in. Leave the outside natural, or perhaps use
a nice stain that blends in with your landscaping.
I built my raised beds in one large (read heavy) piece that
I then moved into position. Next I pounded the rebar the
rest of the way through thereby anchoring the beds some
what to the ground. Next I desod the interior. Treat the
sides of the bed however I wish. And once dry then I
double dig the inside and proceed as per Mel.
(Note my bed are 4feet by 8 feet by about a 12-18 inches
