Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
We moved one year in the summer, (actually a lot of years, but that's
another story entirely...) I took tomato plants in 5 gallon pails from one
home to the other, but did NOT try to transplant them after the move. We
lived in apartments for a number of years so I was pretty comfortable with
container gardening. I would think all but the squash and cuke would do
well in containers for the whole summer. Those would do well in a LARGE
container, but it wouldn't be easy to move. I have a brother-in-law, who
for several years planted his whole garden in a toddler wading pool with
great success (even corn, I think!) Could you plant your garden at the new
place, in a corner where it wouldn't get trampled by the workmen? (If it
isn't too far from your present home, I imagine you will be visiting it
frequently, anyhow...Of course, if you are three states away, then that
probably isn't an option!)
