Square Foot Gardening List - http://myweb.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

You guys are so much smarter than I am. I was
using old planter boxes that were already on their way out -so trying to
preserve the bottoms was not that important. Of all the ideas here- I think I
like the idea of drilling small holes then covering with mesh to keep all the
soil from washing out. Could even use fiberglass window screen so it wouldn't
rust?.I need to get rid of a bunch of rotten stuff but can't really until I can
afford to replace.Sun is peeking out today! Turned the compost and
pulled some weeds and added some composted manure and other goodies to one bed.
Took out a few herbs and put them in the nearby border where they will still
attract bees to the veggies( don't plant lavender if you want that room for
vegies-it is huge! who knew-? it came in such a little pot!)If the good weather
(thank you God!) holds -will drive around looking for cast off materials
to build rest of beds with. There's a neighborhood cleanup day around
here somewhere-... the garbage company just won't tell you where cause
they don't want poeple dumping garbage .I want to yell-"you don't
understand! I don't want to dump- I want to take!"So you cruise till you spy a
washing machine sitting out by a driveway and then you know youre in the right
neighborhood. It is those waterbeds frames I am after. I have $$ for soil
ammendments, new soakers and and some plants- The rest has to be
scavenged.Last week fished 15 cat litter boxes out of a dumpster behind
Petsmart( don't ask) all with torn labels etc.Now I can bring my cookie sheets
and serving trays back in the house. Boy I wish I had a garage. Living
in a mobile home with a carport doesn't give you much room to hide all your
junk.-Teri
