It does work well here in So. Calif. As for the stray or otherwise cats, I place chicken wire or other type of fencing slightly, very slightly rounded, on top of the soil and it keeps them from making a potty out of it. I've also left rose buse prunings around in smaller areas. I've started a whole garden using only seeds, cause I thought that was the way it was supposed to be done. 8 ) Cheap, Cheap. > > Why not just plant outside?
