Like the others here I use a frame with string on it to suport my tomatos, I
will try the netting this year as I think it will be easier to work with. My
frame is made from 2" PVC pipe. It cost about $10 for the whole thing (I
have 2 of them and enough stuff to make a third). We just pounded the
uprights into the ground, but my hubby is going to sink 2 1/2" pipe into the
ground this spring so we can slide the uprights in with less work. We used 7
foot uprights with a 5 foot span across the top, 2 elbow connectors and it
was done. You can glue it all together or not - we didn't so it was easy to
take apart and store for next year. Not the most beautiful thing in the
world and my neighbor teases me about my soccor goals in the back yard :)
but it works and it was cheap.
