Some of us even make compost 'tea' and drench our plants with it. Uncomposted material will tie up some nitrogen for a while. I have used partially composted material in my garden and supplimented the nitrogen for a few weeks and have been satisfied with the results. Regards .. Ed Flynn in Maryland, zone 7
