Re: Deformed seedlings

Dot,

Since we're in the same zone, I'll offer this bit of advice... I don't
plant cucumber seeds inside until 2 wks before the last frost, which means
I don't plant them until April 15 (my last frost LY was April 24).
Otherwise the plants get leggy and don't perform well outside. Cucumbers
also have sensitive roots and don't like to be transplanted so we plant
them in deep peat pots or in un-waxed paper cups (we cut the bottom out
before planting). Consequently, if started too early, the roots get too
long to transplant effectively. I'm not sure what the problem is with the
ones you've started...

We are growing Golden Bell (62 days), Northstar (66 days) and Queen (80)
sweet peppers as well as Early Jalapeno (66) , Habanero (90-100), Long Thin
Cayenne (105), Ancho 101 (80 days), and Senorita (80 days) hot peppers.

Territorial Seed Company has a great catalog -- not only because the seeds
are designed for Maritime PNW growers, but also because it is stuffed full
of growing tips and information. Let me know if you can't find a copy and
I'll snail-mail you a copy. (No I don't work for them, et al.)
